Toxic food for Frenchies

There are some human foods that your dog can eat, but there are also some very dangerous foods too. Here are some toxic foods to NEVER give your Frenchie



  • Chocolate

Chocolate contains an ingredient called theobromine which can lead to a range of health issues in frenchies if eaten, health issues incluidong abnormal heartbeats, tremors, seizures and even fatality. Please keep the yummy choc in your home away from your frenchie.

  • Onions and Garlic

Onions and Garlic are apart of the allium family which is poisonous for frenchies. Any of the allium family food can lead to un upset stomach.

  • Sweets


Sweets, toothpaste, SOME peanut butter, and chewy are among the things containing the ingredient 'Xylitol' which is extremely toxic for fods. it can cause hypoglycemia with symptoms including weakness, vomiting and seizures within 15-30mins of consumption.


  • Corn on the cob


While not toxic, the cob part can get stuck in your dogs intestines so never let them have the whole con on the cob. Sweetcorn is fine though.




  • Avocado

Advocados contain a toxin called persin which when ingested can lead to vomiting and diarhea. Even seizures in some case.



Grapes


Another group of fruits that an be poisonous to your french bulldogs are grapes and raisins. When eaten, can cause kidney failure.




  • Cooked bones

When bones are cooked, they can become brittle and will easily splinter when chewed. Avoiding giving your dog any cooked bones.



  • Coffee and Alcohol

Alcohol is the most toxic drink that can affect your Frenchies health. Giving

alcohol to your dog isnt funny, and could kill them. Another drink that is bad for frenchies is coffee. Coffee/Caffeine contains Methylxanthines and can cause similar reation to a dog who was to eat chocolate.


  • Mouldy Food

It may be tempting to give your pooch leftovers, but making sure those leftovers are not mouldy is essential. Also be careful of your furry friend getting into the bin and stealing some old food. Mouldy food is bad for dogs, as it can contain Mycotoxins which is poisonous when ingested.

Overly salty and sugary food and drinks

Dogs can suffer with diabetes, weight gain, and tooth decay just like humans can. Even in small portions, sugar can also give them a stomach ache, try a good quality dog treat instead.

Salt contains sodium, and can be fatally poisonous for French Bulldogs. If your Frenchie eats a lot of salt, symptoms can include vomiting, diarrhea, depression, tremors/seizures and fevers.
